My Families Favourite Bible Verses

After reading a blog post by Maggie titled ‘Bible Verses That Comfort Me’ I was inspired to write this post.  So I decided to ask each one of my family members what their favourite verses from the Bible are.  After writing this post I realised that one of my sisters and my Mum both have the same favourite Bible verse which is so cool!

My Dad’s… Psalm 46:10 – ‘ “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” ‘

My Mum’s… 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – ‘Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails!’

Mine… Proverbs 3:5&6 – ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understand; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.’

My elder sister’s… 1 Corinthians 13:8 – ‘Love never fails!’

My younger sister’s… Psalm 144:1&2 – ‘Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.  He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues people under me.’

What’s your favourite Bible verse?

Many Blessings, Grace.

      1. I started reading it from the beginning years ago, then with the University and the study I had no time and I neglected it. But I should really start again. What do you advice me? Should I read it from the beginning, or there are books I should focus on?

  1. Thanks for sharing! My favourite is:

    Psalm 12:5-6

“Because the poor are despoiled, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”

      1. I’m slowly working through the book of Psalms and writing down the parts that really speak of God’s love for the poor/suffering/distressed. I’m hoping that when an emotional storm comes my way I can use this resource to soothe my heart.

  2. Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’ 🙂

  3. Wow! These are such powerful verses 😊 I don’t think I have a favourite yet but one that stands out to me recently is Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all things will be given to you as well.”
